Mini-Workshop at AGU Fall Meeting

Experimental Petrology in Subduction Zones: Advancing Research and Community Initiatives with SZ4D

December 8, 2024

9AM-5PM Local Time

University of California Washington Center, 1608 Rhode Island Ave., NW Washington DC

registration closed

Objectives

Bring together experimental petrologists and foster community collaboration to explore subduction zone processes from the slab to the surface

This workshop was designed for experimental petrologists whose work spans subduction zones, from the slab to the surface. The meeting began with a comprehensive overview of the current state of the “arc”, highlighting key open questions on subduction zone volcanism that may be addressed through experimental approaches. Participants explored existing databases including LEPR and traceDs under IEDA for experimental results, and assessed experimental capabilities available within the community. The group finally discussed proposals for community-driven initiatives. The workshop featured invited talks and participant-driven discussion.

SZ4D Mini-workshops are free of charge, open to all, and do not require AGU registration
