Mini-Workshop at AGU Fall Meeting
Experimental Petrology in Subduction Zones: Advancing Research and Community Initiatives with SZ4D
December 8, 2024
9AM-5PM Local Time
University of California Washington Center, 1608 Rhode Island Ave., NW Washington DC
registration closed. Email us if you have any questions
Objectives
Bring together experimental petrologists and foster community collaboration to explore subduction zone processes from the slab to the surface
This workshop is designed for experimental petrologists whose work spans subduction zones, from the slab to the surface. The meeting will begin with a comprehensive overview of the current state of the “arc”, highlighting key open questions on subduction zone volcanism that may be addressed through experimental approaches. We will also explore existing databases including LEPR and traceDs under IEDA for experimental results. Finally, we will assess the experimental capabilities within our community and discuss proposals for community-driven initiatives. The workshop will feature invited talks and participant-driven discussion.
The SZ4D Mini-workshop is free of charge, open to all, and does not require AGU registration. We kindly ask you to let us know at your earliest convenience if you are no longer attending the meeting.
Organizers

Are you presenting at AGU?
SZ4D will be hosting a poster session during the icebreaker, open to anyone interested in showcasing their AGU poster or a poster version of their AGU talk. We particularly encourage Early Career Scientists presenting at AGU to participate. This will be a great opportunity to promote your presentation, share your research with peers, and network within the community.
If you would like to participate, register your poster by December 6.
