Objectives

A public forum to learn about SZ4D Faulting and Earthquakes working group

This one-hour webinar provided an overview of the Faulting and Earthquake Cycles component of SZ4D, introduced the working group, and shared updates on its progress in defining this part of the initiative. Attendees had the opportunity to offer suggestions, provide guidance, and ask questions.

SZ4D (Subduction Zones in Four Dimensions) is a research-community-driven effort in the U.S. focused on understanding the processes behind subduction zone hazards. An NSF-funded planning group is working to outline a potential decadal-scale program in integrated subduction science and has sought broad community input. Within SZ4D, three Working Groups have been convened to address key areas of interest:

• Faulting & Earthquake Cycles

• Magmatic Drivers of Eruption

• Landscapes & Seascapes: Surface Processes and Subduction

This webinar was the third in a four-part summer series. The final webinar introduced the last working group.
