Magmatic Drivers of Eruption Open Mic
October 15th, 2021 at 8 - 9:30 AM PDT
Zoom Webinar
The Magmatic Driver of Eruption (MDE) working group of SZ4D is inviting you to join an open-mic zoom event to discuss geographic opportunities for experiments comparing magma supply, storage, and pre-eruptive behavior between specific volcanoes or arc segments to understand how transcrustal processes initiate eruptions.
This Open Mic event is organized as a panel discussion with distinguished panel experts with ties to volcanoes in Chile, Ecuador, and Costa Rica. The panel discussion will be followed by Q&A and suggestions from the audience.
Distinguished panelists:
-
Dr. Maria Martinez Cruz (National University of Costa Rica)
-
Dr. Maarten de Moor (OVSICORI, Costa Rica)
-
Dr. Mario Ruiz (IGEPN, Ecuador)
-
Dr. Luis Lara (Servicio Nacional de Geologia y Mineria, Chile)
-
Dr. Felipe Aguilera Barraza (Universidad Catolica del Norte, Chile)
-
Dr. Patricia Mothes (IGEPN, Ecuador)
The goal of the event is to encourage feedback from a broad audience on finding appropriate targets to study transcrustal magmatic processes and their control on driving eruptions. Registration is required.
More information about SZ4D and specifically the goals articulated by the MDE working group, please have a look at the draft report. We also encourage you to provide comments and suggestions on the working document if possible.
